NATCHITOCHES, La. (August 6, 2026) – The NRMC Foundation has received a grant from International Paper to advance specialty nursing education and certification across three NRMC healthcare clinics. The funding is already producing measurable results, with 12 nurses having completed advanced training and additional certifications planned in the months ahead.
The grant supports targeted, credential-based education in areas where specialized nursing expertise can directly strengthen patient care: Labor and Delivery, Wound and Ostomy Care, and Oncology.
To date, International Paper’s support has funded fetal heart monitoring education for 7 Labor and Delivery nurses, strengthening the care team’s ability to interpret fetal well-being and respond during labor and delivery. The grant has also funded ostomy certification for one wound care nurse, expanding specialized support for patients living with ostomies.
“Fetal heart monitoring education gives our nurses additional tools to recognize changes, respond quickly and support the safest possible care for mothers and babies,” said Anne Mahloch, Perinatal Nurse Manager at NRMC. “We appreciate International Paper’s investment in our team and in the families who trust NRMC during some of life’s most important moments.”

The grant will also support oncology certification for three NRMC Cancer Center nurses, deepening specialized expertise for patients receiving cancer treatment close to home. One additional wound care nurse will pursue further wound care certification, broadening NRMC’s capacity to meet the needs of patients requiring specialized wound services.
Specialty certification represents a significant investment of both time and cost. By helping underwrite this education, International Paper is building clinical capability that remains with NRMC’s nursing teams and benefits patients throughout the community for years to come.
