Preston Durr donates generously to the Natchitoches Parish Council on Aging

When Preston Durr heard that A/C in the exercise room at the COA could not keep up with the heat this summer he immediately sprang into action. He contacted his oldest brother Brandon, who owns Durr’s Outlet here in Natchitoches. Preston Durr bought 18 individual rechargeable neck fans and Brandon donated 7. The COA’s exercise classes are limited to 20 participants so each participant now has a fan available to them during classes and there are five replacements if some of the fans need to be charged.

You can tell by the smiling faces in the picture these fans were a godsend. After delivering the fans, Preston inquired about anything else that was needed at the COA. He was informed that the COA no longer receives donated water and due to budget restrictions the COA cannot provide the much needed free water for our exercise classes. Preston once again donned his super hero cape and went straight to Super One and purchased 17 cases of water for the COA participants and delivered them himself.

Mr. Durr peaked my interest. He was so earnest and willing to help, so of course I asked him “why?” I ended up getting a history lesson. It turns out Preston Durr is related to more than 3/4 of the previous NPSO leadership. From volunteering his services for many years to serving the public in many capacities he is a can-do, get it done person. He is as delighted with all that the COA has to offer our community as the COA is to have his support.
