The City of Natchitoches announces the upcoming temporary closure of the intersection of Church Street and Second Street as part of the ongoing project to replace the deteriorated concrete pavement and the sewer and water lines on Second Street, from Church Street to Trudeau Street.

This closure, necessary to replace the existing sewer manhole at this intersection, is planned for the evening of Wednesday, July 1, 2026, weather permitting.

Performing this work during evening hours will help reduce inconvenience to the motoring public, as the traffic volume at this intersection is significantly lower in the evening than during regular business hours. It is anticipated that this intersection will be reopened to traffic by 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2. During the closure, motorists will detour around the work site via the network of adjacent City streets.

The City of Natchitoches appreciates the public’s patience during this closure and urges motorists to heed all advance warning signs and other traffic control devices.
