Natchitoches Parish – Sunday, January 25, 2026 The Ice Storm Warning concluded at 6:00 PM CST. Precipitation (freezing rain, sleet, and light ice accumulation) has largely ended; however, hazardous conditions persist.

Current conditions: Temperature near 32°F, northwest winds 10-15 mph, with ongoing black ice and slick roadways.Tonight: Mostly cloudy skies expected. Low temperatures 14-15°F, with wind chills as low as 5-10°F. Extreme Cold Warning remains in effect from 6:00 PM CST this evening through 12:00 PM CST Tuesday, January 27. Dangerously cold conditions are anticipated, with potential for frostbite in minutes of unprotected exposure.

Impacts: Northwestern State University campuses closed on Tuesday. Reports of tree damage and isolated power issues in the parish. Two hypothermia-related fatalities have been confirmed statewide.

Recommendations: Minimize outdoor exposure. Dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and check on at-risk individuals (elderly, children, pets). Avoid non-essential travel; exercise extreme caution on untreated roads, as they may be icy.
