Natchitoches, LA – March 25, 2026 – Local leaders, business owners, and community advocates from Natchitoches Parish converged on the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge today for Natchitoches Day at the Capitol, an annual advocacy event hosted by the Natchitoches Area Chamber of Commerce. The event brought together participants to elevate Natchitoches Parish’s key priorities, projects, and economic opportunities while fostering direct engagement with state legislators and officials. Attendees highlighted the parish’s significant contributions to Louisiana’s economy, culture, and heritage as the state’s oldest permanent European settlement and home to the Cane River National Heritage Area.

Natchitoches Day at the Capitol program included networking opportunities, a breakfast and luncheon, and targeted meetings focused on infrastructure, economic development, port initiatives, tourism, and cultural preservation.

A highlight of the day was the Natchitoches Parish showcase, which featured local products, flavors, and talent. The Louisiana Legislature recognized these efforts by passing HCR 24, commending Angela Lasyone, chef and owner of Lasyone’s Meat Pie Restaurant, for her outstanding contributions to the showcase. A companion resolution, HCR 23, commended Katrice LaCour for his participation. Known as the “Meat Pie Capital of Louisiana,”
