NATCHITOCHES – After a flawless weekend on the court, Northwestern State senior Tjasa Klevisar has been named the Southland Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Klevisar delivered a tremendous performance in both singles and doubles action, leading the Lady Demons (9-6, 8-0) to a pair of crucial conference victories while reinforcing her status as one of the league’s top competitors.
“Tjasa has been doing an outstanding job throughout the week,” says head coach Marcos Morelli. “As our captain, she has led the team with exceptional dedication, confidence, and grace—truly setting the standard for excellence.”
The weekend began with a strong showing on Saturday, as Klevisar rolled past McNeese in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. In doubles, she joined forces with Maria Farina in doubles, securing a 6-4 win to complete the perfect day, leading Northwestern State to a 4-3
comeback win over McNeese.
Klevisar elevated her play even further on Sunday against Southeastern, leading the Lady Demons to a triumph to clinch at least a share of the SLC regular season title.
She dismantled Panatchakom Suanarsa with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory in singles before once again pairing with Farina for another 6-4 doubles win, this time against Suanarsa and Bente Bierma.
With an unblemished 4-0 weekend, Klevisar didn’t drop a single set in singles and remained steady in doubles, continuing to prove she’s a cornerstone of Northwestern State’s success.
On the season, Klevisar has compiled a strong 7-4 singles record, including an impressive 6-2 mark in Southland Conference play. Competing primarily at the No. 2 spot, she’s gone 4-1, consistently delivering for the Lady Demons.
In doubles, Klevisar has been even more dominant, posting a 9-3 overall record and a stellar 6-1 performance in conference matchups. Alongside her partners, she’s excelled in the top spot, boasting an 8-2 record at No. 1 doubles.
The Lady Demons now turn their attention to Saturday’s road showdown in Nacogdoches, where they’ll face Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. A win would secure the outright regular-season title—and Klevisar will no doubt be at the center of the action once again.
